The Farm by Jessica Mansour-Nahra
This is Jessica's debut novel. It has a bit of gothic horror and thriller mixed together. The female protagonist, Leila has a miscarriage and her recovery is long, slow and painful. Her partner, James takes her away to his family farm to recover. And this is where it spirals into a bit of gothic horror.
This book addresses issues about miscarriage and controlling partners. At which point, are females allowed to be in control of decisions regarding their body. This book develops slowly and as Leila begins to hallucinate you try to unravel what she is thinking - is it all in her mind or is there something more sinister going on?
A good book for those who love gothic horror mixed with a dash of thriller.
Happy Reading
