After a childhood marked by hardship and neglect, Beyah Grim finally secures her escape from Kentucky with a full scholarship to Penn State. However, just two months before her departure, an unforeseen loss leaves her homeless and compelled to spend the remainder of her summer in Texas with a father she hardly knows. Devastated and eager for the summer to pass swiftly, Beyah has little time or tolerance for Samson, the affluent, pensive neighbor. Nevertheless, the bond between them proves too powerful to disregard.
