Tasmanian author Claire van Ryn has written this beautiful book The Secrets of the Huon Wren, set in the Great Western Tiers in Tasmania.
This book has forbidden love and secrets. An unusual friendship between two women - Allira and Nora - who are from different generations and both have their own secrets. Nora is a resident in an aged care facility. She has no visitors and is alone with her secrets. Her most important item is a doll. As Allira and Nora's friendship grows, they discover common ground. The common links between them helps them to overcome their past.
This book is so beautifully written and the two women's stories are entwined so lyrically. Their connection is relatable and real. I read it recently on a holiday and really enjoyed it!
